General Information
The LIII Annual Meeting of the Argentinian Biophysical Society (SAB) will occur from November 26 to 28, 2025 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentine.
Every year SAB organizes a meeting where the Argentinian biophysics community discusses recent advances in all fields of Biophysics. Attendance at the conference is not restricted to Argentinian citizens. SAB meetings always receive international experts who are leaders in their respective fields and students and researchers from other Latin American Countries. At this meeting, through plenary conferences, symposiums, posters and oral communications, the following major thematic areas will be addressed:
-Proteins and nucleic acids: Structure, conformation and dynamics of proteins and nucleic acids. Condensed phases of biomolecules.
-Lipids and biomembranes: Self-organization of lipid systems in aqueous and cellular media. Model membranes (micelles, vesicles, nanofilms, etc.) and natural membranes. Theory and modeling. Physical bases of molecular, cellular and systemic processes.
-Transport, signaling and intracellular dynamics: Membrane transporters and exchangers. Ion channels. Transport ATPases. Membrane receptors and signal transduction. Regulation of cell volume. Cell mechanics and mobility.
-Water structure: Confined and overcrowded environments. Effects on protein activity and aggregation. Inclusion bodies. Hydration of interfaces.
-Methodological and biotechnological developments: New techniques or quantitative methods to studying biological systems. Biophysics of drug-carrying nanosystems.
We are sure that the plenary conferences and symposiums will give rise to fruitful debates will be extensive to the poster sessions. These discussions will allow researchers of all ages to develop collaborations that will promote development and broaden the perspective of their research.
SAB encourages initiatives by students and young researchers and sponsors the Young Initiative in Biophysics (YIB), which is a group made up of students and young researchers founded in 2015 with the spirit of building a network of undergraduate students, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers working in the diverse and rich fields of Biophysics to share new ideas, inspiration and practical advice. These activities seek to promote collaborations and networking between young researchers, as well as strengthen ties of camaraderie and friendship.

YIB meeting
On November 25, the IX Meeting of Young Biophysicists will be held, organized by the Young Initiative on Biophysics (YIB). The day is aimed at undergraduate students, associate members and postdoctoral students, and its fundamental objective is to promote collaboration and strengthen the professional relationships of our young biophysicists, in addition to strengthening ties of camaraderie and friendship. It will consist of oral presentations selected from summaries, short communications, debate tables and tutorials. YIB also organizes the Young Biophysicists Symposium within the SAB 2025 scientific program.
Inquiries should be directed to: secretaria.yib@gmail.com
Venue
The LIII Annual Meeting of the Argentinean Biophysical Society will take place in the auditorium of the Institute of Physiology, Molecular Biology and Neurosciences (IFIBYNE) located in Ciudad Universitaria, the urban campus of the University of Buenos Aires. The IX Meeting of Young Biophysicists (YIB) will take place in the conference room of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry (FFyB, Jun铆n 956, Balvanera, CABA).

The city of Buenos Aires has a rich cultural heritage such as the tango rioplatense, declared cultural heritage of the city in 2009 by UNESCO; and architectural heritage such as the Obelisco located between the famous Corrientes and 9 de Julio avenues, the monument to the Spanish in Plaza de Mayo, the Recoleta cemetery and the Col贸n theater, considered one of the best theaters in the world.
